Autosomal dominant optic atrophy (ADOA) is a slowly progressive optic neuropathy that has been associated with mutations of the OPA1 gene. In patients. the disease primarily affects the retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and causes optic nerve atrophy and visual loss.
